Concussion Management
Safe, structured recovery from head injury — at the right pace for you.
About the service
What is concussion management?
A concussion is a mild traumatic brain injury caused by a bump, blow, or jolt to the head that disrupts normal brain function. Symptoms can include headache, dizziness, brain fog, fatigue, difficulty concentrating, and sensitivity to light or noise. Most people recover fully — but recovery needs to be managed carefully.
Concussion recovery is not simply a matter of rest. Current evidence supports a graduated return-to-activity approach, carefully managed to avoid symptom exacerbation. We assess your symptoms, identify contributing factors (such as vestibular, cervical or visual involvement) and design a personalised recovery plan.
We work closely with your GP, school and sporting club to coordinate your return to full activity safely and confidently.

The recovery process
How does concussion recovery work?
Recovery is not one-size-fits-all. We use a structured, staged approach that is guided by your symptoms and adapted as you progress.
Initial assessment
We take a thorough history of the injury and your current symptoms. We assess vestibular function, cervical spine, balance, and cognitive load tolerance to build a complete picture of where you are in your recovery.
Symptom management
We identify your symptom triggers and help you understand how to manage activity levels to avoid setbacks. Rest is important early on, but prolonged rest can slow recovery — we help you find the right balance.
Graduated return to activity
Using evidence-based protocols, we guide you through a step-by-step return to daily activities, school, work, and eventually sport — progressing only when symptoms allow.
Return to sport clearance
We work with your GP and sporting club to ensure a safe, documented return to full contact sport, following current best-practice guidelines.
If symptoms are persisting beyond the expected recovery window, early physiotherapy input can make a significant difference. Do not wait — contact us to discuss your situation.
